A. John Hart, Ph.D.
Co-founder
A. John Hart is a co-founder of Desktop Metal and Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at MIT.
Prof. Hart's expertise in the intersection of precision machines, materials science and additive manufacturing have been instrumental in advising Desktop Metal on the design and mechanics of its rapid prototyping printer. In addition, he serves as Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at MIT where he leads the Mechanosynthesis Group. At MIT, Prof. Hart’s research focuses on advancing the science and technology of manufacturing, including additive manufacturing.
Prof. Hart has received numerous prestigious awards recognizing his accomplishments in research and teaching, and his impact on the development of innovative materials and manufacturing technologies. He has Ph.D. and S.M. degrees from MIT, and a B.S.E. degree from Michigan, all in Mechanical Engineering.
